If you’re lucky enough to live in NYC, you should head over to the Lincoln center and see David Michalek‘s new installation, Slow Dancing, one of the fascinating installations you will probably see this year.
The idea is simple: film some of the world’s best dancers doing one signature dance move, and project that motion onto a a huge screen in super-slow motion. The technical challenges were difficult, as David used a suite of techniques to render the motion in as precise detail as possible. No camera can capture the motion at the projected speed, so sophisticated techniques were used to interpolate frames.
